2018 American Music Awards: See The Full List Of Winners
Tonight is the night of the 2018 American Music Awards, and it will be a must-watch event. Many of music’s biggest stars are descending on Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater for an evening hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross. Taylor Swift will kick things off with a live rendition of “I Did Something Bad,” and other anticipated performers include Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes and Zedd. Organizers have also planned a tribute to the Queen Of Soul, Aretha Franklin, and Panic! At The Disco will honor Queen. All things considered, it is shaping up to be a big night for live music. But the question remains who will come out on top when it comes time to claim the awards.
With eight nods a piece, Cardi B and Drake lead the pack of nominees. The “I Like It” rapper is competing in several of the night’s biggest categories including New Artist of the Year. She is also in the running for the title of Favorite Female Artist in both the Pop/Rock and Rap/Hip-Hop categories. Meanwhile, the “In My Feelings” hitmaker is up for the title of Artist of the Year. There he competes against Imagine Dragons, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Taylor. Post and Ed each nabbed six nominations, while Taylor and Camila trail closely behind with five a piece.
Other notable nominees include the likes of K-Pop royalty BTS. The septet is in the running for the title of Favorite Social Artist and are likely to be taking home a trophy if their dedicated Army has anything to say about it. Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s chart-dominating “Meant To Be” is up for Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Song – Country. Hopefully she is able to snag at least one of the awards. Keep an eye on the New Artist of the Year category, as it is a particularly talented bunch competing for the honor. Cardi and Camila face off against Dua Lipa, Khalid and XXXTenatacion.
Who will take home the awards once the show officially airs tonight (October 9)? All will be revealed in time. While we wait for the show to start, reacquaint yourself with the nominees here and check back throughout the night to find out who won what.
