The Selmanaires: Iffy Name, Spiffy Songs
A few months ago, we picked up The Selmanaires debut album, Here Come The Selmanaires, at Atlanta’s thankfully-still-in-existence Criminal Records; ever since, it’s become one of those records that pops up on shuffle every few days, prompting us to ask, “Whosa what this again? The Salamanders? The Salmonella?” We’re old, and often very confused that way.
After our initial band-name confusion, though, we focus on the tunes, which are sorta tense, sorta garage-rock, sorta psychedelic. We like.
