Ever since At The Drive-In broke up, plenty of bands have tried to ape that group’s “let’s scream a bit and throw our guitars around and bury the hook somewhere” style. And most of these bands are so terrible that after we hear them, we have no choice but to hide out in a fort made out of sofa cushions and listen to old Bread records. That said, These Arms Are Snakes’ recently released Easter manages to rework that sound without coming off like a bunch of bratty 14-year-olds, and we are very enamored with the guitars on both “Horse Girl” and “Subtle Body” (come to think of it, those titles also remind us of listening to Bread). If that doesn’t convince you to give them a listen, the band also has superior taste when it comes to Dischord Records rock, as evidenced by this press photo.
