Motorhead Now Officially The Ballsiest Band Of All Time

awesome.jpgSometimes a news item is so wondrous and awe-inspiring that it doesn’t need a funny set-up. This is one such story:

A [British] boys football team have won a sponsorship coup with a difference after striking a deal with heavy metal band Motorhead. The Greenbank under-10s B team have the internationally renowned band’s name on their shirts along with the band’s motif – a skull named Snaggletooth. The North Hykeham team also run out to the band’s famous Ace of Spades track.

Team manager Gary Weight said the deal came about as he used to know lead singer Lemmy. “It was from a bizarre idea one evening. I sent an email off to them and they came back and said it was a great idea. I knew Lemmy years ago and for him, I think the thought of a football team running out with the Motorhead logo made him chuckle a bit, so that’s where it’s come from,” said Mr Weight.

According to the story, the team also listens to Coldplay before going on field; we’re sure Lemmy will take care of that during his next amphetamine-fueled locker-room pep-talk.

Nice. (And the funny thing about mentioning Suede in the post before this one is that they sponsored a kids’ team in the late nineties.)

  2. AcilletaM

That is so awesome! They could make a killing selling those jerseys.
