New Zealand quintet Look Blue Go Purple’s slim output was collected by Flying Nun a few years ago, although its availability now is spotty; that’s a shame, because their gauzy songs would probably be embraced by fans of former Cover-Song Showcase Showdown contestants Slumber Party. The all-female group switched off on vocal duties, and their lilting, delicate harmonies contrasted with their jangly guitars; even though they’re nearly 20 years old, songs like “Cactus Cat” and the flute-aided “Vain Hopes” still sound airy and otherworldly.
