Listening Station: Tracey Thorn Returns To The Dance Floor

tt.jpgTracey Thorn’s taking a break from Everything But The Girl, but we’re pretty excited for her forthcoming solo record, Out Of The Woods–anyone who describes a song as “a kind of shimmery piece of Scritti Politti-style pop” gets the cocked eyebrow from us. (Okay, yeah, we’re easy that way.) “It’s All True” is the first single from the album, and it’s one of seven Ewan Pearson collaborations; it’s sparkling dance-pop that–dare we say?–sounds like some of our freestyle favorites of years past given a makeover (and a string break) for the 21st century.

    This song is hot! Thanks a million – I love how EBTG got better the deeper they got into dance music; it’s like they discovered their inner club rat or something.

    Oh, I see now! Gotcha. (;
