Apparently our earlier post on year-end critics’ lists was missing one crucial chart: RuPaul’s “Albums I Listened To The Most in 2006.” And while Ru bends the eligibility rules a bit–Bananarama’s Drama was technically released in 2005, and Kenny Rogers’ The Heart Of The Matter was technically released in 1985–we give it up for any list that substitutes Candi Staton for Takka Takka. Her rankings:

1. freda payne…unhooked generation: the best of 2. candi staton…outside in 3. bananarama…drama 4. dusty springfield…a very fine love 5. kenny rogers…the heart of the matter 6. pam tillis…thunder & roses 7. kelis…kelis was here 8. rachel stevens…come & get it 9. stock, aitken, waterman…gold 10. tanya tucker…complicated

Ru was going to put the Ciara record at No. 9, but seriously, have you listened to the spoken-word interludes on that thing? It’s like hearing a prom queen read aloud from O magazine.
