Videodrone: The Clip That Almost Killed My Chemical Romance

Dec 14th, 2006 // 8 Comments

This new My Chemical Romance clip may be pretty standard, but it does raise two questions. One: Was the whole standing-in-front-of-flames look so cool that it was worth roasting the drummer? (Our answer: Not so much.) And two: Why, oh why, didn’t they release “Teenagers” as a single instead of this song, which never fails to make us hit “skip” during our Black Parade listening sessions?

Wow, you could stick that between Sweet and Milk ‘n Cookies on a mix CD.

No way, “Teenagers” is the WORST song on that album. It sounds like that Ugly Kid Joe song.

I know that the whole “band playing in front of wall of fire” aesthetic is fairly common in music videos, but even still, this seems waaay too close to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Gold Lion” video.

People, the most shocking thing here is that Billie Jo Armstrong and Billy Corigan had some sort of illegitimate love-child that is now fronting this band.

He’s got his daddy’s hair, and his daddy’s mouth, but didn’t get either of their talent…

Good God, this band is f*cking awful. I don’t know what’s worse, their naked ambition to be the biggest rock stars in the world, their insipid mooning and posing on this asinine video, or the complete lack of a tune mangled with lyrics cribbed from an episode of The Highlander – “I am not afraid to walk this world alone?” Go away, and take Jared Leto’s eyeliner with you. Take Jared Leto and his band too.

SirLoin, for that to be correct, the song would need more pointless swears.

Okay, let me get this straight. Idolator seems to never pass-up an opportunity to FORCE us to believe “Sam’s Town” is one of the most awful records of the year; however, this same opinion-pushing editorial blog is simultaneously having listening SESSIONS — implying more than one, thus negating a possibility of accidental listens — of My Chemical Romance?

I just opened the window, because “Credibility” was begging to leave.

it’s simple: ‘the black parade’ does not sound like a bowl of noodles put to tape.
