The Vault: Gary Numan Shows No Mercy
Sure, Gary Numan may currently be known for singing about–and crashing–cars, but this rip-roaring 1977 version of “That’s Too Bad,” the first single by his band Tubeway Army, has a pogoing bass line, grinding guitars, and a snide, shout-along chorus. Numan later claimed that the song was a blatant–and failed–attempt to cash in on punk’s popularity, but that doesn’t make it sound any less good to us now.
