Shred Of Dignity: Putting Unwanted Promo CDs To Rest

Jan 17th, 2007 // 8 Comments

Recently, the Idolator flophouse was gifted with a menacing-looking new CD shredder–nicknamed “Dicey”–and it’s been instrumental in clearing our workspace of unwanted promotional discs. We’ve decided to start cataloging some of Dicey’s conquests, and since capturing executions via cameraphone seem to be all the rage these days, we’re happy to share the NSFW proceedings:

THE VICTIM: Family Values Tour 2006
PUNISHABLE OFFENSES: Values contains five mind-alteringly awful live Korn songs, not to mention tracks from Flyleaf, Deadsy and Stone Sour. Plus, it has one of those promotional warnings stamped right on the disc, meaning secondspin.com won’t buy it (or so we hear).
DID IT DIE WITH HONOR?: Yes. While other discs tend to make hellacious crackling noises–one rap CD we shredded seemed as though it would actually spit hot fire–Family Values quickly and quietly reduced itself to a green-and-gold pile of confettii.

    Flyleaf, Deadsy and Stone Sour

These words should never be allowed to live.

Damb. Can I come over and shred a few promos? I mean, I can’t unload them at Half Price Books anymore… Oh, um… was that out loud?

  3. The Mozfather

Yes, but what do you do with the confetti?

  4. rad_matter

There was a Family Values Tour 2006 album? I thought the Family Values series ended after Limp Bizkit created brown noise for the 1999 Family Values Tour CD!

  5. Dan Gibson

This could have been a segment of “Will it Blend?”

  6. wondergoodtx

There was a Family Values Tour in ’06?

  7. DK10

Soon there will be a special exhibition on the Family Values tour at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I mean, if the Vans Warped Tour deserves it, I’m fairly certain Family Values should demand equal time. Perhaps you could have donated that CD to the effort.

  8. Wasp vs Stryper

The Heatherette boys would buy that confetti for good money you know…
