For those of you unfamiliar with David Shayman–better known as Disco D, the Detroit-area producer who committed suicide yesterday at the age of 27–here’s a quick run-down of his career highlights: He produced tracks for the likes of 50 Cent, Spank Rock, and Trick Daddy; he founded several record labels, including Detroit Ghettotech; and he took on numerous side projects, from commercial gigs (he wrote music for Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards show) to that infamous Arnold in Brazil video. Discobelle has a eulogy and some MP3s, including the two below.

A big Rest In Peace to Disco D. I had the pleasure of interviewing him a few times and he was always a really good person. Whenever I was starting a new project he was down to be involved. Not too many like Disco D left. A sad loss.

K Fed is not blameless in all of this. Rest in Peace, double D.

Hadn’t been in touch recently, but was a great guy when I knew him in college.
Always kept my eye on what he was up to….
