Today’s USA Today has a profile of Roy Head, who is re-entering the limelight thanks to his son, Jason “Sundance” Head, also known as “That Guy On American Idol Who Comforted The Guy He Beat By Offering Him A Bodyguarding Gig.” Not only has Roy been working on a new album, he’s been giving his son advice:

Says Roy: “I’ve told him, ‘Man, you’d better focus on what you’re doing, lock yourself in your room and learn your lyrics. Because they will unseat you if you get up there and flub your lyrics.’ “

Sundance has heeded his father’s counsel, but at what cost? His attempts to breathe and remember his lyrics at the same time have resulted in his performances being grueling, and we’re pretty shocked that he’s still going (yes, even with the push from Vote For The Worst). If only Roy had told his son to be sorta charismatic instead–at the very least, we’d feel a twinge of guilt while rooting against him.
