Listening Station: The Black Go Into The Red
In an effort to warm up for our week of nonstop music consumption, we visited the Austin club Beerland Saturday night; there, we saw a performance by the skinny-jeaned hometown outfit The Black. We were pretty into their tambourine-assisted swagger; if all the bands whose shows we stumble into put on shows that are half as enjoyable, we’ll consider this week a success. Their MySpace page is, unfortunately, missing the crowd-pleaser “Appletree”–on Saturday, when they finished playing the song after many requests, a few guys in the audience asked for it to be played again (the band declined)–but “Eshu Blues” is definitely worth a spin.
