Stuck On Repeat: On The Internet, No One Knows That You’re A Puppet
It’s a few years old, but “Beep Beep Cyberbaby” by the Elks Skiffle Group–a band that claimed to be made up of puppets–is still as sweet a slice of synth-pop as it was when we first downloaded it from Vitaminic over a crappy dialup connection. The Internetty lyrics that aren’t mired with outdated references to Pets.com, the fluffy-cloud synth line, the employment of the “Asian Riff”–if only these guys hadn’t gone to the big felt pile in the sky long ago, this song would be huge with the blogs.
