REO Speedwagon Plays Sam’s Town

Last week, two members of REO Speedwagon performed at a Wal-Mart in Eagan, Minnesota, an event that was thankfully captured by a local news team. The resulting segment is painful to watch, but not for the reasons you’d expect: While the band members seem at peace with the prospect of shilling in a chain store (they’ve gotta sell records, after all), the correspondent tosses off some of the hammiest rock-reporting lines we’ve heard since Brian McFayden went off the air, including:

– “The groupies still love the music, but instead of throwing their underwear on stage, now they’re buying it on clearance just an aisle away” – “Wal-Mart’s slogan is ‘Always low prices’; the price was right today for vintage rock.” – “And at the end of the day, this Speedwagon proved that where there’s a wheel, there’s a way.”

Okay, we made the last one up. But you just know it got cut to make time for the “Say It Ain’t Snow!” weatherman segment.
