Leak Of The Day: Manic Street Preachers Want One More Chance To Win Your Love

manicscover.jpgMuch like figgy pudding and “Not Content” votes, Manic Street Preachers will always be one of those U.K. phenomenons that Americans will, never ever embrace (your Idolators always enjoyed a few singles here and there, but never quite got the hullabaloo–or, as it’s spelled across the pond, hullabalou). That said, the first single from the group’s forthcoming Send Away The Tigers is actually not too shabby, thanks in part to a guest turn by that pretty lady from the Cardigans:

I’ve never really got the Manics-Mania either, but this track is a winner.

Had the pleasure of working with the band a few years ago and they could not be nicer, cooler guys. No rockstar bullshit and lots of fun.

@xtianrut: Aww, I’m so jealous. Any pearls of wisdom form Nicky?

    “4 REAL”

Love the Manics. This song sounds great. A lovely pop song with a dark soul. I just wish they would finally get a good tour of the US together. Already pre-ordered the single bundle from their webstie. 2 cd-singles and a 7″ record, one of which will be signed.

    I’m such a geek.

@Audif Jackson Winters III: You’re thinking of Richey.

I’m one of the few stateside (apparently) who got into the Manics back during the “This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours” days, but that was mostly because I saw the videos on MuchMusic.

I wish that US remixed version of The Holy Bible had been released; could’ve won some hearts on this side of the pond.

Love the new single; can’t wait for the album.

nice song. i’ve loved the manics since the the first album, struggled to grasp the last two albums. this song feels like a reward for staying loyal through the inconsistencies. nice to hear a female voice, their first female guest since traci lords on “little baby nothing” i would think.

I’ve been a fan since Motown Junk. While I’ve liked all of their albums to some degree or another, this is definitely a stronger album than the past two (or four if you include the ‘greatest hits’ package, the ‘b-sides’ package).

Underdogs and Imperial Bodybags are kick ass songs as well. The new website has as a great section where Nicky explains all the songs, which is nice since they can be a bit obtuse still.

Wow. Manics and Cardigans mentioned in a single post. It is a good Thursday.

Yes, “Your Love Alone…” is something of a “Little Baby Nothing” redux. Too bad the lads don’t still write lyrics like “your lack of ego offends male mentality…your beauty and virginity used like toys.” Sanctimonious and awkward as opposed to smooth n’ proficient: those were the days. I do like Nicky Wire’s croaking backup vocals, though.
