Jefitoblog’s (Possible) Demise Makes Monday Mornings Worse Than Usual

We’re long-time fans of jefitoblog, the nerd-herding MP3 blog best known for its in-depth Idiot’s Guides and generous Bootleg City posts. So we were disappointed to check in over the weekend and see this announcement:

Well, it looks like I must have uploaded something popular today, because — according to my mp3 host — I was getting “too many hits” and, well, you can guess the rest. It looks like they went in and wiped everything off their servers, which is why everyone’s getting those lovely File Not Found errors.

Considering that this just happened at the last host last month, I’m pretty sure we’ve reached the end of the road that Boyz II Men were always crying about.

I’m really not sure where this site goes from here…but in the interim, I want to thank those of you who have visited, enjoyed, donated, and commented; I’ve really made some wonderful friends doing this, and it’s been a blast. Until next time…

This is frustrating for several reasons: 1) we were saving that same Boyz II Men reference for the day we get fired/shut down/blow-darted by the RIAA; and 2) we were looking forward to the inevitable idiot’s guide to Jawbox. Hopefully, jefito (a.k.a. Jeff Giles) can get the site back up and running soon; if not, he has a standing invite to guest-edit at Idolator, so long as he brings some Neil Young rarities with him.

So Long, and Thanks for All the Everything [jefitoblog]
