The Winds Of Change Are Blowing For Billy Corgan

corgan.jpgRight on the heels of the announcement that former Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth will be performing with the current iteration of the Smashing Pumpkins at two shows in Germany, Scorpions news blog Scorps News is reporting that the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan will be providing backup vocals on the next album by the German metal band, Humanity–Hour 1. We’ve been mulling over this news for a good while now, and we’re still stumped by it. Perhaps Corgan is trying to figure out how to get his overblown album-title mojo back?

Quite possibly the only human being now who has performed with New Order, the Scorpions and Bozo the Clown.

Actually, this isn’t surprising at all. Corgan has a none-too-secret metal past.

  • Ned Raggett

It’s not secret at all! The best description of Gish I ever read was that it was the only album worth a damn made by someone who obsessively read Guitar Player magazine all through the eighties as well as taking the time to learn every transcription.

Don’t forget he’s also done some vocals for Taproot and Breaking Benjamin.

Wow, new Scorpions leaked overnight to the usual suspects. I have been too enraptured with the new Dream Theater (no judgements!) to even think that far ahead. Klaus Meine, Desmond Child AND Billy Corgan. That new Scorps record can’t possibly be mediocre. I imagine it is going to be amazingly mindblowing or horribly craptastic.

Uli Jon Roth rocks. That is cool he will get in front of a large audience again.

It is well-known that Corgan positively worships Glenn and KK.

    As do I.
