Betty Davis was a funk dynamo, and her catalog was full of blazing, sexy songs that still sound ahead of their time; quite the feat, since she put out her self-titled debut album in 1973. It’s been a long time coming, but Davis’ earliest work is finally getting the deluxe reissue treatment by the terrific Seattle label Light In The Attic. If ever we were going to get on our soapbox and urge our readers to go out and pick up a couple of new releases, it would be these–but we’ll eschew the preaching and just post one track from each reissue below:

Betty Davis – If I’m In Luck I Might Get Picked Up [MP3, link expired] Betty Davis – He Was A Big Freak [MP3, link expired] Betty Davis [Light In The Attic]
