Snapping On A “Candy Bracelet” In Memory Of Blueboy Singer

We heard the sad news today that Keith Girdler, the lead singer for the ’90s indiepop band Blueboy, passed away last week after a long struggle with cancer. Blueboy, which put out a few records on the hugely influential post-C86 label Sarah Records, made delicate, beautiful music that sounded almost scarily intimate on first listen; after the band’s last release in 1998, Girdler went on to record under the names Arabesque and Beaumont with fellow Blueboy member Paul Stewart. Two of our particular Blueboy favorites, both of which come from the band’s 1992 album If Wishes Were Horses, are below:
