The Vault: Hüsker Dü’s And Don’ts

zenarcade.jpgGranted, posting a few tracks from the best-known Hüsker Dü album is pretty obvious–and, in light of today’s anti-nostalgia trip, a little hypocritical. But take it from us: You have not wept for the future until you’ve overheard a 17-year-old kid identify Zen Arcade as “a song by Bush.” So this one’s for the children:

Hüsker Dü – Something I Learned Today [MP3, link expired]
Hüsker Dü – Never Talking To You Again [MP3, link expired]

Great rekkid. But live they were nowhere near as fun as the glorious drunk, dress-wearin’ catastrophe that was the Replacements.

@The Riffage: What you said. There’s a little filler on Zen Arcade.

  3. Jupiter8

    I’ll third that…

The Warners stuff (“Candy Apple Grey” “Warehouse: Songs and Stories”) had moments too…I wish I had the old video of them performing when they were on Joan Rivers short-lived late night show….

I saw them down in fort lauderdale in 1985 at a small hall – ears still ringing!

  5. The Riffage

Damn if that album cover isn’t just about perfect. That said, I still reach for “Flip Your Wig” more often when I need a Du fix.
