Girlschool Guitarist Heads For Hard Rock Heaven

Jul 16th, 2007 // 2 Comments

Kelly Johnson, an original member of the storied British metal band Girlschool, passed away over the weekend at the age of 49. Johnson had been battling cancer of the spine for the past six years; she’d been in and out of the group since it was initially founded in the late ’70s, when it toured with Motorhead, and she quit the business in 2000, shortly before her cancer was discovered. A full biography and discography are on the tribute page set up by members of Girlschool, which is also playing benefits for cancer research over the coming months.

  1. Ned Raggett

Just sad all around — worst metal death via cancer since Piggy of Voivod passed.

  2. Dubnacious

Word up Ned, This is horrible news, so sad.
