We sat through the lyrical pop quiz The Singing Bee last week, and we weren’t alone: The show scored the highest ratings of any new show this summer. Those big numbers resulted in NBC placing the Joey Fatone-hosted show–which puts its contestants through the paces of singing along with the Jack-FM playlist, and somehow is less brain-stimulating than it sounds–on its Tuesday-night schedule, where it’ll be sandwiched in between The Biggest Loser and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Because nothing gets you in the mood for stories about rape and child abuse like watching some excitable guy from Kansas trying to shout his way through “Wild Thing.”
