Thanks to a combination of drug crackdowns and club shutterings, Ibiza–home for two decades to the Euro-club jetset and the unofficial capital of techno-centric DJ culture that isn’t Berlin–is pretty much dead in the water. Speaking of which, the Spanish island’s nightlife fate was sealed by a nasty oil spill off its coast–one that is effectively killing off its day life, too, with beaches shut down thanks to the accident. Make all the fun you want of rich hedonists, but eco-disaster isn’t funny at all.
