Eighty Percent Of Guns N’ Roses’ “Appetite”-Era Lineup Walks Into A Bar, Then Slash Leaves

Despite naysayers’ predictions, Saturday night’s party celebrating the 20th anniversary of Guns N’ Roses’ Appetite For Destruction did, in fact, have Steven Adler, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin, and Slash in attendance. (Axl Rose was, perhaps unsurprisingly, nowhere to be found, although apparently someone decided to attend the show in Axl-impersonator gear.)

The jam session between the ex-bandmates was short–and Slash didn’t participate at all, splitting before his scheduled performance of “Welcome To The Jungle.” But Izzy and Duff did join Adler’s Appetite for “Mr. Brownstone,” , and Izzy even played along with a song called “Tijuana” that I have abolutely zero familiarity with (unless it’s the Gilby Clarke track “Tijuana Jail”?) and a cover of Aerosmith’s “Mama Kin.” So kudos to Steven for actually getting this together–and even getting Clarke and Tracii “hey, my name’s still on this band even though I haven’t been in it for a long time” Guns to show up as well. Next time we doubt him, we’ll listen to the Blabbermouth story that pointed us to Adler’s photos from the evening: “TO ALL THE NEGATIVE POSTS ABOUT TO BE PRINTED ABOUT STEVEN AND OR THIS GIG,GET A SET OF DRUMS AND SELL 20 MILLION RECORDS.”
