So yesterday’s speculation about Amazon’s long-rumored MP3 store being further delayed may actually have some weight; Hypebot found that “some of the record labels [participating in the store] – who in the past have been a veritable fountains of information – are staying strangely silent both on and off the record.” And an artist we talked to who was planning on having music distributed through the store said “I can tell you that my digital distributor is having a hard time getting a straight answer as to what’s going on–they just say that they are ‘in negotiations’ and leave it at that.” Anyone out there have a real answer as far as what’s going on? Is this thing dead in the water, or is it really, honestly going to launch sometime before, say, September 2009? Do get in touch–your anonymity is assured.
