Speaking of Mel Brooks parodies, XXL ruins our OiNK high by reporting that Dallas lawmakers have finally figured out a way to get rap fans to hike up their drawers: naming and shaming via city-wide billboards. Billboards that read like the kind of “make sure you wash your hands!” posters you’d see hanging in a grade school coatroom. And the fact that the following slogans are aimed at adults certainly makes us feel ashamed.

According to Fox 4 Dallas, City Hall is starting a new advertising campaign aimed at getting residents to pull their pants up under the guise of an organization called “Hip-Hop Government.” The campaign will consist of three different “Pullem’ Up” billboards that bear the slogans “Don’t Be Lame, Elevate Your Game,” “Represent Yourself Like You Present Yourself,” and “That’s Not Hip-Hop That’s Flip Flop.” The first two billboards are scheduled to go up at the intersections of Interstate 45 and Lamar St., and Interstate 35E and Illinois Ave.

Dallas officials say it’s “lewd.” We say: what if you don’t make enough to afford a new pair of jeans and your old ones have long since ceased to maintain their original shape? Sometimes bagginess is not necessarily within your control. Just saying.
