Pastacore 101 Is Only Three Credits, Does Not Fulfill Your Graduation Requirements
Micah Vandegrift teaches “Underground Music in America, 1980-Present” at Florida State University, and he’s organized a panel on the state’s various underground scenes. It takes place Friday and features Reversal of Man’s Matt Coplon and Jake Brown, a founding member of 238. Looking at the low-res flyer (click the thumbnail for a bigger version), the event appears to be an engaging discussion of Florida’s punk subcultures, and how particular youth communities relate to their locales, that seems rooted (to me, at least) in the ethnography field with a dash of British Cultural Studies. If you happen to attend this, let us know how it went, but if the discussion turns out to be a bunch of fat dudes in cargo shorts arguing about Hot Water Music, get away as fast as possible.
