Axl Rose Is Not Entirely Selfish When It Comes To Sharing His Soda

… but sharing the completed masters for Chinese Democracy is another story. Rose responded to Dr Pepper’s declaration that it would give a free soda to every American–save Buckethead and Slash–if his long-delayed album came out this year via a statement on the official Guns N’ Roses site:

“We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album Chinese Democracy, as for us, this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead’s performances are on our album, I’ll share my Dr Pepper with him.”

Aww. No hard feelings! And hey, Axl: If you need a place to finish the album, I hear that Dr Pepper happens to have expert knowledge of constructing ad hoc studios where people are forced to finish albums in absurdly short periods of time. At the very least, maybe you can get some sort of seed money for a bonus track or two? Oh, wait, that would actually be a terrible idea, wouldn’t it.
