emilogo1.gifThe latest rumors about beleaguered label EMI, in addition to reports that it’s allegedly closing a good chunk of its Asian offices: “The following major changes will be announced in the next 48 hours: Nick Gatfield from Universal/ Island is going to be named EMI UK Chairman or/ and in the capacity of head of A&R; Jason Flom, Chairman and CEO of Capitol Music Group in the US is on his way out; and… no EMI restructuring news is complete without the obligatory ‘Roger Ames is under intense pressure and his head is still on the block.’ ” But at least there’s that Coldplay album, right? WTF – Flom is out again? Does that guy have the worst luck, or what?! Didn’t Virgin just bring him in, like, two years ago after the Atlantic blowout with Lyor?

I feel like I keep reading stories about how Flom is the up-and-coming wunderkind of the industry, and then he keeps getting shafted. He must spend like a drunken sailor or something.

Who’s going to be in charge of selling unsold CDs to the Chinese transportation authorities if their Asian offices are closed?
