Alicia Keys Needs To Drop The Soap

AP071211052965.jpgIf you were a multiplatinum artist and Grammy perennial like Alicia Keys, would you bother appearing in Fresh Takes, a Dove-sponsored “microseries” that runs during episodes of The Hills? Wouldn’t roles in upcoming prestige pics with names like The Secret Life Of Bees and Composition In Black And White scratch your thespian itch enough that you can pass on dialogue like “my mom is on Facebook?!” Is that Dove money so sweet that you’re cool working with Nick Lachey? Do you really want what’s left of him?

Nick Lachey and Alicia Keys were spotted by surprised East Villagers last week going into the shuttered Avenue A restaurant Mo Pitkin’s. It turns out they were filming a commercial for Dove that airs as a continuing miniseries during episodes of “The Hills.”

As I Am has sold three million copies, which is a hell of a lot in today’s market. Isn’t this something Fantasia should be doing? Someone who could use the exposure? I know you want to provide a positive role model to young women, but there are better ways to share the love than this:

She needs to drop her ridiculous conspiracy theorizing too. It just makes her look like a brain-dead twat.

Digital content marketing is the future. Come on!

Somehow I surfed by this Dove nonsense and watched for a moment. I had no clue what was happening, but I did watch for a moment. And then I realized it was the most ridiculous thing I had watched in weeks. Weeks! Do we really need this? Alicia Keys?!

God damn, how can someone so mediocre be so fucking ubiquitous?

I couldn’t believe it when I saw Lynn Whitfield playing her mom. Seriously, this is what her career has come to?
