‘Rolling Stone’ Going the Perez Hilton Route?

Jun 16th, 2008 // 7 Comments

RollingStone.jpgIs Rolling Stone preparing on launching a “Perez Hilton-esque” music blog–with “look at me and all the famous people I drink with” correspondent Austin Scaggs as figurehead, and six unpaid interns who will reportedly “have to work 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday” doing the actual legwork–within the next month or so? And what on earth might “Perez Hilton-esque” mean in the context of RS, anyway? Will Scaggs be photographed on red carpets wearing shower caps and ill-fitting hoodies? Is minimal competence at MS Paint required of the interns? The mind reels. [Gawker]

Oooh, Perez Hilton for the grandma set. Sign me right up for that.

@Captain Wrong: I’m all over that, boo. Me, you and his dad.

Jann has offered to draw pictures of penises for the blog.

As long as that hack follows in Perez’s footsteps by bareley getting laid for a year, this whole thing is fine by me. Also, please tell me the blog will incorporate Mp3s from upper-middle-tier “indie” artists (maybe encoded at like 96k?) under a title like “The Breaking Edge” so that I don’t spend the rest of the day feeling like I live in an unjust universe that rewards mediocrity.

@cosmiclove: Am I a sucker for admitting I really dig Lowdown?

  6. alec_baldwin

@Captain Wrong: No. I kinda like it, too.

@Captain Wrong: Where is he performing? I can’t remember the name? Last time I was there was to see Blur.
