Pram Go Behind The Mask

I don’t want to give away too much about the above clip for Pram’s “Beluga,” so I will just say that the black-and-white clip, which chronicles the surreal adventures of a masked women, is quite well-matched to the band’s recent turn toward what I keep thinking of as a “bossa nova horror-film” aesthetic, and it served to remind me that I’ve been woefully delinquent in listening to their fine album The Moving Frontier, the 11th (!) of their career; it’s mostly frosty, moody instrumentals that are scoring an epic movie in some genius’ head, but there are a few appearances by the stunning voice of Rosie Cuckston. It’s still not out in the States yet, but hey, maybe someday. As an extra treat, the fuzzed-out video for their 1998 track “Sleepy Sweet” is after the jump.
