The New York Daily News‘ item on Malcolm McLaren’s current art installation on the MTV building focuses on its porny aspects: “What you see is not people having sex but people about to have it…. I was interested in the body language of nonactors, how they communicated their longing,” McLaren tells the News‘ Rush and/or Molloy of his piece, which uses clips culled from stag movies of days gone by. But of interest to me is the music accompanying it, which passerby can hear if they call a phone number running across the screen: McLaren is scoring the film with his stunning blend of the Captain & Tennille’s “Love Will Keep Us Together” and Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” which I first heard when Peter Hook spun it at an otherwise awful afterparty* for a New Order show a few years back and which is still spine-chilling to listen to. A stream of the track is after the jump.

Kind of makes you at least a little intrigued about his plans to join together with Disney for a musical based on the life of Christian Dior, doesn’t it?
