Tokio Hotel popped back into the album charts, selling 3,500 copies of Scream in the wake of their hosting TRL all week and coming in at No. 182 on the Billboard 200. The album by these so-called “sensations” has sold 67,000 copies since it came out on May 6. For reference, here are a few other cumulative sales figures for albums that were released on that day: Toby Keith’s 35 Greatest Hits has sold 391,000 copies; Neil Diamond’s Home Before Dark has sold 354,000 copies; Gavin DeGraw’s self-titled album has sold 168,000 copies; and Dierks Bentley’s greatest-hits collection has sold 156,000 copies. Hands up, those of you who think MTV should shift gears and stage a showdown between Neil Diamond and the Jonas Brothers at next month’s Video Music Awards…
