Whitney Houston Saves A Rough News Day

My friends, the Idolator RSS reader is rough, rough going during the waning days of August. To give you a sampling of the “news” items I can write about right now:

• Miley Cyrus is charging $250 to get into her sweet 16, and yet she still wants someone to buy her a car.

• There’s some Fall Out Boy viral-marketing campaign-related confusion that I apparently need a pair of heads to wrap around.

• Sheryl Crow has decided to give away an album that no one wanted to buy in the name of “voter awareness.” Also, getting her name back in the press.

• And to top it off, 50 Cent is saying that female music writers should lick his balls if they want to be successful.

Good times, right? Well, I’d like to give a shoutout to the fine blog Burning The Ground for posting the 12-inch of Whitney Houston’s “Love Will Save The Day,” which is sorta sappy but peppy enough to, at the very least, make me realize why I got excited about omnivorously listening to music in the first place. (This is maybe second on my list of top Whitney singles behind “I’m Your Baby Tonight.” And I’m going to choose to not focus on Whitney’s current travails in order to prolong my current state of enjoyment.)
