Taylor Swift: Young, (Sorta) Shakespearean, And In Love

Taylor Swift’s video for “Love Story,” the lead single off her second album, has a little bit of Romeo & Juliet flair to it, only it dispenses with all those pesky plot points about people dying and stuff in favor of a misty, watercolored happy ending. (I suppose this is the danger of getting your schooling on the road, and becoming a record-industry success right before you’re about to go into the second semester of senior-year English. Jonas Brothers, take note!) Also, am I the only one who finds it a little weird to hear the 18-year-old Swift singing a song that opens with the lyric “We were first young when I first saw you,” and then goes right into the marriage-proposal fantasy? Oh well, maybe Bristol Palin can play this at her wedding! [YouTube]
