Thurston Moore says the anti-Starbucks contingent of Sonic Youth’s audience is just exhibiting “a knee-jerk reaction from PC watchdogs” and seems to inadvertently call the band’s DGC-era-and-onward recordings “adult contemporary,” which would make for one cool-ass AC station were it true. [smoothdjvoice] Didn’t that make ya feel good — hope you enjoyed that block of Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me” followed by John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change.” Up next, we’re gonna give you some “Dirty Boots,” followed by “The Diamond Sea” — time does take its crazy toll, doesn’t it? Weather in New York City, sunny today, high 81… [/smoothdjvoice]

I’ve lived in Western MA for a year, but just had my first Thurston sighting last weekend. I was walking around at a record fair carrying a promo poster for Trees Outside the Academy. He probably thinks I’m a geek :(
