The BET Awards Continue To Wave The Banner For A “Best Ringtone” Award

Sep 17th, 2008 // 6 Comments

Nominations for BET’s Hip-Hop Awards were announced yesterday, and, unsurprisingly, Lil Wayne walked away with the lion’s share of the nods, to the point where I have to wonder if the nomination committee was trying to figure out a way to shoehorn him into the Best UK Hip-Hop Act category. Weezy got 12 nominations; Kanye West, meanwhile, received seven nods, and Jay-Z six. Full slate of nominees after the jump.

Glad to see so many ladies nominated! Oh, uh…

  2. Al Shipley

True story: I was asked to participate in the nomination process for this for some reason (I’m white, but I guess that doesn’t really matter), so I voted 5 nominees for each of the first 12 categories, though the last 3 weren’t on my ballot. 13 out of my 60 suggestions were used, not counting all 5 of my write-in votes for DJ Khaled for “Hustler of the Year,” mostly anytime I filled in Jay-Z, Wayne or T.I.

  3. Rock You Like An Iracane

@Al Shipley: DJ Khaled is Hustler of the Millennium if you ask him.

Also, I believe he da best!!!>?!@?! Or something.

  4. Al Shipley

@Rock You Like An Iracane: I still can’t believe Khaled got an “MVP of the Year” nomination, considering that pretty much every major rapper was listed in the voting options.

Roots Manuva wasn’t votable? Slime & Reason slays.

  6. KrAzy Che3To

@bcapirigi: Only Mrs. no name “Casha” is there, haha.
