Jean Grae Takes It Directly To The People

Indie hip-hop is full of hard-luck stories, and Jean Grae certainly has one of them, thanks to albums she terms “unauthorized” outnumbering ones of which she approves. After apparently considering retirement, Grae is dispensing with all the machinations of the music business and taking herself back to the streets… or, at least, to Craigslist.

Is your band’s indie rock track one guest rap away from hitting the charts? Could your answering machine use a little street cred? Jean Grae’s got a deal for you.

So, the economy sucks…. I apparently have another unauthorized album for sale dropping Sept 30th and I figure, if everyones gonna make money offa me, why not make it directly and directly to the people who really love this shit anyway. Out the hands of big business, straight to you.

So.. you got beats?? cd’s?? envelopes?? yousendit?? protools? Whatever you got I’ll try and find a way to work with it.

I work fast, so you’ll have em fast.

16’s for $800 (cause 8’s half of 16..ooh math! math yo!) and yeah..we can negotiate. Maybe you want a hook.. or 8 bars. or an into.. or outro.. whatever.

If you need a preview of what Grae has to offer, here’s “Knock,” possibly the only hip-hop track in which an A&R guy from Matador gets dissed.

Jean Grae Will Do Original Verses..For $$$, lol. [Craigslist; HT Hamilton Nolan]
