Rockanomics Tries To Recalibrate The Politics Of, Um, Rocking

Tired of Idolator’s lefty streak? Wish Rolling Stone leaned further to the right? Adore Ted Nugent’s politics as much as his chops? Well, Rockanomics, a new conservative music news and opinion site, will soon be here to help. “In addition to music reviews and downloads, the site features technology reviews, videos, interviews, articles, analysis of national events and pop culture, trivia, discussions, blogs and a special 9/11 remembrance,” according to a press release. And let’s be real: No matter how much I may disagree with this new site’s thrust (meaning its politics), as 9/11 remembrances go, there’s simply no way Rockanomics could possibly be as tasteless as this ad for non-circulating Liberian currency.

In the site’s introductory video, Rockanomics founder Rob Stanley introduces us to his upcoming relaunch:

And you can bet we’ll be taking on pathetic magazines, newspapers, bands, so-called journalists that constantly slam the country and the president, the global warming quagmire, terrorists sympathizers, conspiracy theorists, and low-life politicians that undermine our country. They’re all fair game. Plus, there’s some great trivia, discussions, blogs, and a special 9/11 tribute and remembrance, because too many people have forgotten.

As a so-called journalist, I’m skeptical Stanley will offer much in the way of “new” analysis of either music or politics, but he’s neither the Internet’s first nor last loudmouth, and it would be churlish to begrudge him his shot at making something of it just because I don’t happen to agree with a single thing he says. Good luck, Rob Stanley, and may the free-market economy be with you, because right now it sure as hell doesn’t look like it’ll be anywhere else for a while.
