High School Musical 3, the movie, pulled in $42 million over the weekend. In comparison, the soundtrack was estimated to have first-week sales totals of somewhere in the 275,000-copy range on Friday, although one wonders if the movie’s Friday release bumped that total by a significant amount. Wait, I guess that would depend on there being record stores anywhere in the general vicinity of movie theaters, right? Oh well. [Reuters]
