The smashed-to-bits remnants of a guitar that belonged to Kurt Cobain during Nirvana’s first national tour has been sold for $100,000 to an unidentified buyer. The guitar seems to have been destroyed during a July 1989 show by the band at Hoboken live-music mainstay Maxwell’s; the seller, who was a member of the Boston outfit Hullabaloo, got the guitar when he swapped it for a playable one, so Cobain could actually play while on tour. See? Being generous pays off! It may take 20 years, but still. [AP]
