Will AC/DC Play In Peoria? (No, Really)

A radio station in Peoria, Ill., staged a rally over the weekend in hopes that it would attract the attention of—and maybe a concert by—Aussie hard rockers AC/DC, who, despite touring the States multiple times over the years, have somehow forgotten about Peoria when composing tour schedules. (They haven’t played the middle-American barometric epicenter since 1983.) AC/DC’s current jaunt around the U.S. wraps up Jan. 31, but the DJs at WIXO felt that if they got enough people to dress up in shorts in the freezing cold and act like idiots, maybe the band would extend them some sympathy, and add one measly stop to their tour. You would think that Wal-Mart, which distributed the band’s latest album Black Ice and which has multiple locations within an amp’s throw of the Peoria city center, would be all over this, but alas, so far, the cries of all the Heywood Jablomes who signed the station’s online petition have yet to be answered.
