Blink-182 To Reunite… As Grammy Presenters

Feb 5th, 2009 // 8 Comments

The phone calls between Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Tom DeLonge that took place a few months ago have sort of borne fruit: blink-182 will present an award at this Sunday night’s Grammys, presumably while wearing clothes and not playing music. Hooray? Also on the telecast now: performances by M.I.A., Neil Diamond, Robin Thicke, Stevie Wonder, and a Bo Diddley tribute featuring Buddy Guy, B.B. King, John Mayer, and Keith Urban. Full list of performers after the jump! It’s a long one, and I’m starting to think that this year’s telecast is going to be way heavy on the blurted-out, pre-commercial-break omnibus lists of winners.

    Wait wait, back up: Performance by M.I.A.? By “performance” do we mean “cut to satellite feed of her live birth”? Girl is insanely pregnant! She cannot be doing the duppa bounce with that poor little tyke sloshing around inside her! It would just be cruel.

  2. dog door

    i guess this is growing up…

  3. Maura Johnston

    @dyfl: Hey man, it’s tough to cut through the clutter these days.

  4. Ned Raggett

    You know, the only thing this show is missing is Jools Holland standing center stage introducing everyone and letting the camera pan around.

  5. Tauwan

    @dyfl:

    I saw her on Tavis Smiley last week. Not clear on the day of birth thing. It’s either the day of the show, or the day before. I forget. I also think, think she said she’s joining T.I., Jay-Z and the gang on a performance of Swagger Like Us. Don’t suprised if we viewers are hit with a performance that features Paper Planes morphing into Swagger midway through or M.I.A. coming out of nowhere once the chorus drops on Swagger Like Us.

  6. Tauwan

    @Tauwan:

    don’t “be” surprised. My bad.

    “Don’t suprised if we viewers are hit with a performance that features Paper Planes morphing into Swagger midway through or M.I.A. coming out of nowhere once the chorus drops on Swagger Like Us.”

    Or she could just perform one of her own songs, of course.

    Rob Zombie should be there, paying homage to The Cramps. I’d love to hear him do some medley or just “Bikini Girls.” It would certainly shake up the seemingly boring-ass lineup they’ve assembled for Sunday.

    @MickFNS: Somehow I doubt the Grammys would ever acknowledge the Cramps or Lux Interior. Which is a good thing.
