Doves Shake Off The Rust, Return To Re-Win The Hearts of Anglophiles

Call it “Chinese Democracy Syndrome” if you like, but there’s a line when waiting a few years for a new album from an act you enjoy turns into a period during which you forget what you liked about a band in the first place. Even though I was really into the first three Doves albums, somewhere in the four-year wait since 2005’s Some Cities, I stopped wondering when the band would have new material out. However, when Radio 1 debuted the self-titled first single from their forthcoming album Kingdom of Rust (it’s due to be released here on April 7), I realized that I’m willing to jump back on the bandwagon. Doves aren’t exactly an act you should expect a dramatic artistic left turn from, but they’re British and cool, so who am I to complain? Two tracks from Kingdom are below the cut.
