Flo Rida Owns Us All

So, remember last week, when I was musing on the possibility of Flo Rida‘s Pete Burns-tastic “Right Round” breaking the debut-week sales record that Eminem’s “Crack A Bottle” had just set? Well, not only did it break Slim Shady’s record, the ode to getting head on the dance floor pulverized it, selling 636,303 copies in its first week at Amazon MP3 and the iTunes Store—the best single-week total ever, beating his own “Low”—and pretty much ensuring that it’s going to be this week’s No. 1 single. (“Crack A Bottle” was off 39%, selling 254,000 copies; the No. 3 song, the T.I./Justin Timberlake collaboration “Dead And Gone,” moved 237,000 units.)

R.O.O.T.S. is the title of Flo Rida’s forthcoming album, an acronym that apparently stands for “Routes Of Overcoming The Struggle.” Apparently the quickest way to overcome the “struggle” of your two follow-up singles from your debut album not performing up to standards is to get Dr. Luke on the case!
