Beyonce: Everyone’s Favorite Celebrity For Scoring Points

I wonder if part of the viral-marketing plan for Obsessed involves crafting elaborate Internet hoaxes around Beyonce, who’s one of the flick’s stars. Because this is just getting weird: First we had the whole “board tape from Today debacle, and now that kerfuffle over B sending a body double to a museum, which was actually a hoax perpetrated by a local radio station. I guess the station was trying to make a point about how famous people can basically get whatever they want for free because of peoples’ long-standing willingness to prostrate themselves in front of alpha members of their species?

A woman claiming to be the Beyonce’s manager called the museum, asking for a tour within half an hour. In the past, movie stars Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Nicolas Cage had visited the Albertina for hastily arranged special visit. “Her face was extremely similar, but her body was totally different,” said Verena Dahlitz, the museum’s spokeswoman, after her initial suspicion had been confirmed. A marketing manager at Kronehit radio explained that the station had hired a German singer and model for the prank. “We’ll call the Albertina to say we meant no harm,” manager Andrea Hilber said. “It was a great museum tour.”

I still don’t buy the “face was extremely similar” thing, unless Dahlitz was under the impression that Beyonce was actually Leona Lewis. Double of pop diva Beyonce dupes Vienna [Earth Times; HT Special Ed]
