Green Day Would Like To Know Your Enemy… For Market-Research Purposes

Green Day’s May 20 show in New York City will be at a new venue called the PC Richard Theater, a new venue downtown that bills itself as “the new live performance home for Clear Channel Radio” in New York City. And if you didn’t think that was exciting enough, wait until you try to actually get tickets! In order to get tickets, you have to sign up for an account, and accrue points; this process involves filling out a very buggy application form (which, hi programmers, won’t accept my shipping address), then doing things like playing sudoku, clicking “featured links” to Clear Channel stations’ Web sites, and filling out surveys that ask pressing questions like “Are you excited that Regis Philbin is coming back to host Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” I have to be honest: This is a lot more annoying than their pre-release streaming deal with the Rupert Murdoch-owned Sun, although your media-critic mileage may vary on that.
