Jay-Z Doing The Splits

So after lots of speculation over just who would be releasing Jay-Z’s forthcoming The Blueprint 3 and distributing his Live Nation-aided label Roc Nation–and his own declaration that he, personally, would “never have a ‘record deal’ again”–it turns out that Jay-Z is actually getting in bed with both Warner Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment: The former will put out Blueprint 3 on Sept. 11 (the eighth anniversary of the original’s run), while Sony subsidiary Epic Records will be the chief distributing partner for Roc Nation. The formal announcement will take place at this Sunday’s Hot 97 Summer Jam, even though Jay-Z isn’t on the bill. I guess that puts to rest the identity of one of the surprise guests! The Tracy Morgan-hosted show will also feature these fine acts, for whom someone out there is willing to pay $353 a head: Mary J Blige T-Pain The-Dream Young Jeezy Jadakiss Jim Jones Juelz Santana Elephant Man Mavado Serani Pleasure P Jay-Z To Release ‘Blueprint 3’ On Sept. 11 [Billboard]
